A Conversation With Farhana Qazi and Wajahat Ali, One of CNN’s Most Influential Muslims, At Bus Boys & Poets Bookstore

Award-winning journalist and playwright Wajahat Ali, and one of CNN’s Most Influential Muslims, will join me at the Bus Boys & Poets Bookstore to discuss perceptions of Muslims in America, Islam, conflicts in the Muslim world, Islamophobia and much more. On October 1st, at 6:30 pm, Ali will openly discuss the most pressing issues of our time: perceptions and misperceptions of Islam, Islamophobia, conflicts raging in the Muslim world, and how to reach a common understanding and build bridges in our divided communities.

Who Is Wajahat Ali?See the source image

A few years ago, I met Ali at a Pakistani-American event, where he sat on a panel with other writers to talk about his journey into writing. While most South Asian children pursue the typical doctor-engineer career, Ali was determined to break the stereotype and follow his heart. He began to write and perform in school theater. Today, he is an award-winning journalist, writer, lawyer, playwright, TV host, and a consultant for the U.S. Department of State. It’s no wonder Ali is one of CNN’s Most Influential Muslims.

Together, Ali and I will discuss the themes around my new book, Invisible Martyrs, which touches on misunderstanding and misperceptions of Islam and conflicts in the Muslim world. Join us on October 1st for a riveting conversation and an exchange of ideas.
